India enjoys the third largest Army with an axiomatic high wastage rate with approximately 50,000 Officers, JCOs and Jawans retiring every year. The four major wars thrust on India in the last 50 years beside a host of arduous and dangerous low intensity operations at times culminating into conflicts have further rendered a large number of casualties dead, wounded or invalidated out.

The nation has always stood by the gallant Jawans and paid its tributes to the martyrs, widows and the handicapped Amar Jawans. Numerous pensionary benefits and privileges have been offered by the Government from time to time to the grateful Army.

We, in the Western Command, under the able leadership of our Army Commander, in our own humble way, would also like to contribute for the noble cause of extending our hand in uniform to our ESM brethren and their widows/dependents. It would give us immense pleasure if we are able to solve an iota of day-to-day problems being faced by these honest, hard working, totally reliable and valiant ex-soldiers and their widows\dependents.
